The Upstairs is busy. It’s active, productive and industrious. Employment rates are up, crime is down, and yet something’s not quite right. Everybody must have a skill. Smithing, woodwork, medicine; whatever it is, if you can do it, you’re put to good use. You see, the Upstairs is striving to create a Utopian society. Anyone who deviates from this ideal, who does not possess a skill or have a talent, magically disappears without a trace. The people of the Upstairs are blissfully ignorant of these disappearances. Only the Council knows where these Deviants have gone. The Underground. In contrast to the Upstairs, the Underground is dark, dirty, restrictive. The Underground is a cage. For the Creatures of the Fae, it is the only safe place from the Humans. What happens when the Underground has been tolerated and the Underground, in turn, has tolerated much too much? Supressing it just isn’t enough and surviving's just not going to cut it.
