It was a normal spent morning and afternoon for Megan Jones today. Wake up at six o’clock, take a shower, get dressed, do her hair and makeup and then rush off to a late breakfast usually and cram a couple of pieces of toast down her throat and gulp down some orange juice, before heading off for her eight o’clock class, which was Arithmancy. Megan was never a person to attend class with time to spare. Yet she had never been late either. She just always arrived right on time, usually two minutes or a minute before class started. And you would think that since Arithmancy was one of her best and favorite subjects, she would make sure she was there early and sit with a big eager smile on her face, her hands folded on her lap, ready to learn. Yeah, right. As much as Megan loved Arithmancy, she wasn’t one to get there early just to look like some of those so called ‘nerdy’ kids who all they did was study. Nope. Megan had a lot more important stuff on her mind to attend to than being eager to be called a kid who had no life outside of homework and school.
Well, there were kids at Hogwarts that she knew of and were friends with that were like that. So, erm it wasn’t all bad. I mean, everyone is different right? Precisely.
Speaking of being different, Megan probably was one of the few that were like that. Most students at Hogwarts were into the whole thing of following around a leader, like that stupid dimwitted Draco Malfoy. [ yet he’s not at school this year, so no need to worry about that coward for now! ^^ ] Megan never quite understood why you would practically want to play puppet to someone when you could go and make your own decisions in life and be yourself without trying to please another. It was completely ridiculous in Megan’s opinion and she usually scolded people who lived their lives to always have others make decisions for them and never seemed to grow a damn backbone and stick up for themselves.
Anyways, back to Megan’s normal little day. It started off quite cold in the morning and rolled on like that through out the day for it was nearing winter time in England. Megan had cursed the school uniforms a few times as she walked down and up the corridors to attend to classes, for they never did seem to be warm enough for this type of weather. The last time she tried to get away with wearing a warmer coat with faux fur inside to keep her small framed body from catching cold, Professor McGonagall had caught on to her non-dress code and gave her detention. Though a few detentions never seemed to stop Megan from doing anything. So yes, there were other times when she wore layers of thinner coats underneath her black cloak but in time she’d get caught all over again and either be given an annoying lecture about the school dress code or be given another detention. Now that I think of it, Megan probably received four detentions just for not ‘following’ the school dress code. I know, I know. A complete rebel, ha.
After finishing her last class of the day which was her other favorite class, Charms, Megan quickly made her way out into the corridor. She then gave a quick glance around her to make sure no teachers were around then mumbled “Screw dress codes..” and quickly slipped on some warm yet thin white knitted gloves. Pleased with her new hand warmers she slipped her hands into her pockets and skipped happily down the slowly empting halls and headed towards the Great Hall for some early dinner. Once inside the Great Hall the smell of something delicious filled the room around her. She smiled to herself as she took in the scent through her nose then slowly breathed out a long sigh before heading over to the Hufflepuff table and sitting with her fellow house mates, and gathering food onto her plate.
As she munched down on some well cooked crispy chicken legs and some mashed potatoes, suddenly Megan remembered she had to be somewhere. And with someone I might add. And this person she was going to spend most of her evening with was named Stewart Ackerley. A fourth year that she was assigned to tutor in no other subject than in Arithmancy. Even though Megan did tell Professor Vector that she could tutor, she didn’t expect her to have to start so quickly. Don’t get me wrong, Megan liked to tutor for she enjoyed helping others who needed it, but she had been really busy lately studying and practicing for Auror training coming up and since Vector knew that, she didn’t expect to have to start at least until next week. But like always, something always seemed to go wrong for Megan whenever she least expected it. It was like a curse or something that only she seemed to have.
Quickly looking at the clock, then finishing her mashed potatoes and drinking whatever was left of her water, she bid her friends farewell, slung her messenger bag over her shoulder and made her way towards the Library. As she walked, she began to hum softly to herself and think about how she was to prepare her lesson for this evening. As she thought, she started to think about the young boy she was going to tutor as well. Stewart was no stranger to Megan, even though she had met him just this year. Vector had even mentioned him as a very bright and hardworking student in Arithmancy, yet for some reason Vector felt like she wanted him to get more help, perhaps to get ahead? Megan knew Stewart wasn’t stupid, so it sort of surprised her probably as much as him that he needed her help. And let me tell you, most guys don’t like getting help from a girl unless it concerns some time alone and flirting going on. But Megan doubted that was in Stewart’s case.
When she reached the large Library doors, she pushed them open and stepped inside the dimly lit room. Scrunching up her nose, she pushed her way passed a few cramped bookshelves, careful to not knock any books down and made her way to the back of the library where she was to meet Stewart. When she arrived at the back table, she placed her hands on her hips and tilted her head to the side. Empty. Hmm, well she was quite certain he had said a back table that was pretty much hidden behind a large bookshelf, and this one pretty much captured the description. Maybe she had gotten here a little earlier? That would be a first. Ah, well. Time to prepare. Dropping her book back onto the wooden table, Megan moved over to a bookshelf and started pulling off a few books. One, two, three..eh, maybe she would just use her own Arithmancy textbook for today.
Sitting down in one of the chairs, Megan opened her messenger bag and pulled out first a small half eaten but wrapped chocolate bar that she had been eating in Potions class. Grinning, she swiftly un-wrapped it and took a bite of the chocolaty goodness. Mmm, so good. Even though there was no eating in the Library, Megan did it all the time. Sneaking food was one of her specialties. After a moment she sent the candy bar down onto the table and then pulled out rather large looking Arithmancy textbook. Whenever she had to hold it and walk to classes, people would always ask her why in the world she was taking the class. Megan would usually just smile and answer that it was completely interesting but then when she noticed how shocked and slightly bored people looked, she didn’t start to explain much anymore. It was funny how some students found her completely insane for liking a subject like Arithmancy. But Megan didn’t take too much notice to it, only because she was good at the subject and liked it. It didn’t matter what others thought right? Right.
